10A-12:30P | 6-WEEK WHEEL THROWING CLASS
6-WEEK WHEEL THROWING CLASS | SUMMER SESSION
Whether you’re looking for a creative night out, a unique gift, or just want to try something new, this class is a perfect hands-on experience!
Cost: $270 for the 6-week session
Course Outline (Subject to Change):
August 4th - Session 1 - Studio Tour, Prepping and Centering Clay
August 11th - Session 2 - Centering and Pulling walls
August 18th - Session 3 - Throwing Cylinders
August 25th - Session 4 - Trimming and Handles
September 1st - Session 5 - Free Throw
September 8th - Session 6 - Glazing
________
Our 6 week class is a great way to get a more full picture of the process of making pottery. Start with a lump of clay and practice all of the steps from throwing, trimming, handling, and glazing.
While you will leave this class with a number of unique pieces, also bear in mind that we can only cover so much in 18 hours. Most students leave this course with a good understanding of their basic and essential pottery skills, but still lack the hours of practice needed to master this craft. For this reason, we strongly encourage students who still wish to further their understanding of pottery to explore our studio membership program!
While 18 hours worth of studio time and instruction may seem like a lot, it will go by very quickly! For this reason, we strongly encourage you to do some research on the front end and figure out what is most important to you. While the first half of this class focuses more on basic and essential skills, the second half is much more self-guided. We want to teach you the skills, and cover the projects that mean the most to you.
This is a great option for beginners who want to practice the entire process or intermediate potters who want to refine their skills.
No experience is required for this class - Minimum Age - 16 years old.

9TH-12TH GRADE POTTERY SUMMER CAMP
Registration Fee $130
July 27 - 31, 2026
2:45 PM - 4:00 PM 9th - 12th GR (Fall 2026)
Camp Description:
Summer Camp at Mudslingers introduces kids of all ages to the infinite possibilities of clay. They will hone their creativity through age specific projects that allow them to make something completely unique. Through the week they will build a basic knowledge of clay so that they can feel confident in themselves as artists, and hopefully return for more of our classes!
About the Instructors:
Hannah Kyle was born and raised in Huntingdon, TN and a graduate of Union University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Graphic Design in 2015. She is married to her middle school sweetheart and has two children. They live on a little homestead where she currently creates. She fell in love with ceramics when she realized graphic design wasn’t fulfilling. She bought a wheel after her first class and hasn’t looked back since. She is largely self-taught, but has been working with clay since 2018. She is excited to share her passion for clay and the versatility of it with anyone who is interested. In addition to instructing at Mudslingers she also runs her own small business in our local Huntingdon area, creating and selling her own pottery through Hk.Studios
Mary Glenys grew up in Huntingdon, taking pottery classes at Mudslingers Studio under founder and instructor Lori Nolen. She was actually in one of the very first pottery classes at Mudslingers back in 2009! She took an eight year hiatus from pottery when she went to college at Mississippi State University, where she earned a degree in Horticulture. She moved to Memphis to work as a horticulturist at the Memphis Botanic Garden. She fell back in love with pottery after taking a wheelthrowing class at a local studio there.
She recently moved back to Huntingdon with her fiancé and they live in a 100-year-old farmhouse with their four cats and dog. Outside of Mudslingers Studio, she loves gardening, cooking, crafting of any kind, and doing pottery full-time under her business, “Redbud Studios.” She is so excited to cultivate a creative community and teach the next generation of potters in the same studio where she fell in love with ceramics!
