“GREASE”
Packs the House at The Dixie

HUNTINGDON, Tenn. – Despite the inclement weather and a
postponed show, The Dixie welcomed two packed houses as The
Dixie Youth Theatre presented “GREASE – The School Version”
(Book, Music, and Lyrics by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey).
Originally scheduled for Friday and Saturday, May 2 and May 3,
with both shows beginning at 7:00 p.m., Friday’s inclement
weather forced The Dixie staff to postpone the Friday evening
show to Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
Over the past six weeks, actors and actresses from local
communities have rehearsed at The Dixie and in Jackson,
Tennessee to bring this production to fruition. The audiences
were thrilled with the performances and enjoyed every minute of
this famous Broadway show brought to life in Huntingdon!


The cast included: Dan Webb as Mr. Lynch (Hollow Rock), Victoria
Lee Motheral as Patty Simcox (McKenzie), Heather Voytek as
Eugene Florczyk (Huntingdon), Sarah Edwards as Jan (McKenzie),
Chelsea French as Marty (Big Sandy), Ayla Morris as Betty Rizzo
& Choreographer (Jackson), Clayton Williams as Doody (Jackson),
Allin Montford as Roger (Paris), Grant Pritchard as Kenickie
(Jackson), Kirk Towater as Sonny LaTierri (Huntingdon), Dakota
Autry as Billy (Huntingdon), Erin Keas as Frenchy (Jackson),
Camilla Bratton as Sandy Dumbrowski (Jackson), Logan West as
Danny Zuko (Jackson), Jesse Turner as Vince Fontaine
(Huntingdon), Casey Jordan as Johnny Casino/Teen Angel (Chester
County), and Blair Pinson as Cha-Cha DiGregorio (Atwood).
The Pink Lady Chorus members were: Erika Coomer as Carla (Hollow
Rock), Katie Kail as Julie (Bradford), Desiree Wheeler as Dezzy
(Huntingdon) and The Preppie Lady Chorus members were: Reghan
Higginbotham as Lisa (Huntingdon), Nicole Rangnow as Nikki
(Huntingdon), Beth Trevathan as Sophie (Huntingdon), Rebecca
Turner as Becki (Selmer), and Molly Hannah Wilson as Mollie
(Gleason).
“GREASE” was directed by Jim Wilhelm with Esther Gray serving as
musical director, Kimberli Hood Easley as stage manager &
costume mistress, and Rachel Smothers, Elena Spradlin, and
Jennifer Caralyn Caterina in charge of props & costumes.
This project was funded under an agreement with the State of
Tennessee, the Tennessee Arts Commission, the National Endowment
for the Arts and Northwest Tennessee Development District.
This Weekend at The Dixie: “3 Blonde
Moms” & “The Fun on the Farm Jamboree”
HUNTINGDON, Tenn. – “3 Blonde Moms” will perform at The Dixie
Carter Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 9, 2008 at 7:30
p.m.
This top-notch, high-energy, semi-scripted PG-13 standup comedy
show is jam packed full of hysterical material about being a
mom, having a mom, kids, schools, husbands, in-laws, and more.
If you have a family, know a family, or want a family, this is
the show for you! “3 Blonde Moms” has been performing to sell
out crowds all over the country.
Tickets for “3 Blonde Moms” are $25/adult and $20/senior (65 and
over). Please note – this show has a PG-13 rating.
“The Fun on the Farm Jamboree” will take place on Saturday,
May 10 at 2:00 p.m. Headlining this month’s show is Restless
Heart! You’ll also see The Double Edge Band, Tera Townsend of
Huntingdon, Thompson Square of Nashville, FARMerican Idol winner
T.J. Hall, Stephanie Rosson of Morris Chapel, Layne Wrye of
Paris, and Comedian Wayne “Bubba” Bannister.

Audition Dates Announced for
“Godspell” at The Dixie
HUNTINGDON,
Tenn. – The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center announces open
auditions for the upcoming production of “Godspell” (show dates:
July 24-26, 2008 at 7:30 p.m.). The show includes a variety of
roles for males and females ages 18 and over. Auditions will
take place on Monday, June 16 and Tuesday, June 17 from 6-8:00
p.m. at The Dixie. Specific songs and monologues REQUIRED for
auditions will be available for pick-up at The Dixie beginning
Monday, June 2. For more audition information, please call The

“Godspell” is based on the Gospel according to St. Matthew, and
this modern and contemporary retelling is a joyous celebration
of music, mime, comedy, and slapstick. The score of “Godspell”
calls on all modern musical influences, including Rock, Gospel,
and Ragtime - and includes the hits "Prepare Ye the Way of the
Lord" and "Day by Day."
The story of “Godspell” speaks to the passion of Jesus Christ,
to teach love and joy in the hearts of the people, rather than
hate and sadness. It speaks of loving your neighbor,
forgiveness, tolerance, and celebration.
