Just like the TV hit, Dancing with the Stars, this event partners professionals with 6 of our local "celebrities" to learn a dance routine in the week prior to the show. Dressed up in glitzy costumes and ready to show off some new moves, the winner will be voted on by the audience. Play your part in supporting The Dixie and decide who takes home the coveted mirror ball trophy!

A Light in the Dark: The Story of Helen Keller & Anne Sullivan
Presented by: Thodos Dance Chicago

This story-ballet tells of an extraordinary woman who was deaf and blind, yet with the encouragement of her teacher, went on to become a world famous writer and inspiration. The second act will feature works from Thodos Dance Chicago repertoire.

An ASL interpreter will be present for the performance. For those hearing impaired, please reserve description devices by contacting The Box Office at least one week prior to the event.

Touch Tour Saturday, October 24, 2015 at 6:00 p.m.

This tour invites visually impaired persons and their companions on stage to feel the sets, props, and costumes in order to get a mental picture of activities on stage during the performance. Please register for this tour by contacting The Dixie Box Office.

Picnic & Movie at the Carroll County Thousand Acre Recreational Lake

In preparation of Saturday’s performance, come and add a dish to a community picnic, meet Thodos Dance Chicago, and enjoy a lake-side viewing of Shine, the Emmy nominated half-hour film based on the making of A Light in the Dark. The Picnic & Movie is a Free Community Event.

This traveling exhibit serves to honor the 342 firefighters that made the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11, as well as the sacrifices of our veterans. The memorial provides interactive education; including artifacts, news and video recording, and live tours from FDNY heroes.
