From a farm in Pottsville, Tennessee, the husband-wife team of Joey Martin and Rory Feek is among that rare breed of talent that lives and breathes what they write and sing. This duo, deeply rooted in a classic country sound, draws listeners into an intimate and close-knit environment, perfect for The Dixie Carter Performing Arts Center! While her distinguishing vocal talent, influenced by Dolly Parton and Connie Smith, rivals the competition on country playlists, Joey communicates with a more nuanced delivery. Rory is a former Marine and decorated songwriter with chart-topping hits by Collin Raye, Blake Shelton, Clay Walker and others.
Special Guest Wynn Varble was named Songwriter of the Year at the 2009 NSAI awards, where he also won Song of the Year for the Brad Paisley No. 1, "Waitin' on a Woman". Varble's first No. 1 came in 2003 with "Have You Forgotten," recorded by Darryl Worley. Since moving to Nashville in 1992, Varble has penned songs for artists including Garth Brooks, Lee Ann Womack, Brad Paisley, Darryl Worley, Montgomery Gentry, Gary Allan, Trace Adkins, Kellie Pickler and newcomer Easton Corbin.
All proceeds of this event will go towards The Dixie's programming, including bringing in artists for public and schooltime performances.
