Girl Scouts 95th Anniversary Celebrated at The Dixie

This year marks the 95th anniversary of the founding of Girl Scouting and the 49th anniversary of the Reelfoot Girl Scouts Council. The Reelfoot Council currently serves 5500+ girls and 1000 adults throughout 18 Counties in West Tennessee. In honor of this anniversary, The Dixie will present “Patchwork” The Little House Quilts of Laura Ingalls Wilder – a biographical play about the pioneer life of Laura Ingalls Wilder – on Saturday, May 12th. Tickets are still available for the 4:00 p.m. show at $10/ticket. There is no reserved seating for this event; tickets may be purchased on a first-come, first-serve basis at The Dixie Box Office the day of the show ONLY.

Laura Ingalls Wilder’s tales of outdoor adventure and pioneer spirit have been inspiring boys and girls for over 70 years. Born in 1868, Laura traveled across America’s rolling plains, all the while creating patchwork quilts that related the same adventures that would later inspire her time-honored books. Laura’s quilts still exist today, and their patterns recall her beloved family – her strong and caring Pa, he heroic sister Mary, and her warm-hearted Ma. Laura crossed the wild and often perilous frontier in the back of a covered wagon. Join the Ingalls as they face the hardships, the triumphs, the wonder and the faith that sustained their journey across the American frontier.
